Santa goes camo: A Christmas shopping list for hunters

Santa goes camo: A Christmas shopping list for hunters

While others are out hitting Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, hunters are in the woods doing what they do best. That leaves little time to write wish-lists, so Guns.com has compiled a list to help select the perfect gift for your hunter or huntress.

1. Primos SurroundView Hunting Blind

Ground blind hunting has never been better. Primos has been leading the industry with their Double Bull blinds for years, and they’ve upped their game even more. SurroundView blinds offer entire wall-sized see-through panels so the hunter inside can see out, but the game outside can’t see a thing. Three sizes mean a variety of price points from $299-$499 MSRP.

2. Anything .224 Valkyrie

The hottest hunting round of the year makes a perfect gift idea for any from the varminter to the deer hunter, or even long-range match shooters. If your hunter has an AR-15, buy an upper in .224 Valkyrie. It not, consider splurging on the whole rifle from Savage or a whole host of other companies cranking out both semi-autos and bolt guns. In the case that your hunter is already uber-cool and already owns a Valkyrie, load them up with new ammunition from Hornady or Federal.

3. Mauser M18 Rifle

One of the last companies we thought we’d see producing a “budget” rifle just dropped the mic. Mauser’s lengthy history of building some of the best bolt guns in the world helped them put all the features hunters need in a reasonably-priced deer gun with no beauty frills or inflated price tags. The M18 looks plain, but it just plain shoots, with a five-shot MOA guarantee. MSRP is $699 and it comes in all the most popular calibers from .243 to .300 Win Mag.

4. Mossy Oak Volt

Give the gift of warmth this season. Volt heated apparel has partnered with Mossy Oak to offer the perfect warming garments for hunters. Choose from either a vest or jacket, both with three heated panels. The apparel runs on an included and rechargeable 7V lithium battery. MSRP $179-$199.

5. Savage 110 Predator AccuFit

Hands down one of top guns of the year, the new-for-2018 Savage 110 Predator is incredibly accurate right out of the box. Think camo, fluted, and threaded. Partner that with everything “ACCU:” AccuFit adjustable stock, Accutrigger adjustable trigger, and AccuStock internal rail system. Everything adds up to accuracy downrange. The 110 Predator comes in all the expected chamberings from .204 Ruger to 6.5 Creedmoor. MSRP is $899.

6. Craig Boddington’s The Accurate Rifle…and Rifleman

This is just what it sounds like — a monthly box full of hunting goodies shipped directly to the door of your hunter or huntress. Order a single month, or have it shipped every 30 days. There are multiple options on the market, but Guns.com has been sorting through the options to find some of the best.  Depending upon on your budget, check out HuntVault Elite ($160), The Sportsman’s Box ($49 for the standard box, with discounts for longer subscriptions), or Timber Edge ($34.99). HuntVault offers specialized boxes specifically for huntresses, while Timber Edge has a Kids Box. Any of these beat the heck out of a wine-of-the-month club!

8. Alps Outdoorz Zero Gravity Layout Blind

Here’s one for the waterfowler. Geese beware the hunter who is comfortable all day in this zero-gravity chair-turned-layout-blind. This thing is comfortable first, but also durable, low-profile, and easily packable. The folks at Alps Outdoorz are hardcore hunters themselves and know how to include all the best features. MSRP is $199-$279, with options in either Tan or Realtree MAX5.

Even hunters need a decent shooting rest. While the Lead Sled brand is good and gets all the credit, Champion makes some great rests for less money. Check out the Enhanced Rifle Rest with an MSRP of $148.95 and online sale prices of only $99.

10. Ruger Super Redhawk 10mm
