Citing Potential Drop Fires, Walther Issues PPS M2 Pistol Safety Recall
After discovering a potential safety issue, Walther has issued a PPS M2 pistol safety recall. The recall affects certain PPS M2 pistols shipped before Aug. 1, 2017.
The company issued the voluntary safety recall because it discovered that some PPS M2 pistols could fire if dropped. While this potential to fire is limited to certain conditions, Walther felt this was in the best interests of its customers.
PPS M2 Pistol Safety Recall Serial Numbers
Walther recommends that those with PPS M2 pistols containing the following serial numbers should quit using their guns and contact the company. Walther is offering free upgrades to remedy the situation.
- AN3020 – AN9999
- AR0000 – AR9999
- AS0000 – AS9999
- AO0000 – AO9999
- AT0000 – AT9999
- AP0000 – AP9999
- AU0000 – AU7502
- AQ0000 – AQ9999
Obtaining a PPS M2 Pistol Safety Recall Upgrade
After determining that a pistol is within the recall serial range, shooters must contact the company to obtain the free upgrade. Walther is offering four ways to contact the company about the upgrade. The easiest is through the online form. However, shooters can also call 866-503-3389, Monday through Friday between 8 and 5 Central time, or email email@example.com 24 hours a day. Also, those who prefer the postal service can contact the company via mail at Walther Arms, Inc., 7700 Chad Colley Boulevard, Fort Smith, AR 72916.
Once Walther has confirmed the serial number, the company will email or mail a a prepaid overnight shipping label with instructions. Or, shooters can print the shipping label after filling out the online form. Walther will upgrade the pistol and return it for free. Also, pistols that have received the free upgrade will have a dot milled into the back of the magazine opening. This is to ensure recognition of whether the pistol has received an upgrade.
